When you use the camera app, you get a little shutter button at the bottom of the screen, press it and you’ve taken a photo….easy, right?But pressing the volume up (+) or down (-) buttons on the side of the phone/iPad does the same thing – and it’s easier to reach (especially when doing ‘selfies’!)

So, just call up the camera app, aim and press the vol buttons instead of the shutter icon.
