November 16th 2007: Welcome CAVAL Collaborative Solutions

We began delivering in-house IT training to CAVAL staff this month. Owned jointly by several Australian University libraries, CAVAL operates to enhance the effectiveness of the information and research activities of these institutions.

October 18th 2007: Becoming a Board Member

I am proud to announce that this month, I have been accepted as a Board Member of the Western Region Centre Against Sexual Assault (WestCASA). The Western Region Centre Against Sexual Assault (WestCASA) provides specialised counselling, support and advocacy for survivors of sexual assault, working to promote the recovery of victims and a world free of sexual violence. WestCASA is funded by the Victorian Department of Human Services.

October 6th 2007: ACA Honorary Membership Awarded

This week I was privileged to be awarded Honourary Membership to the Australian Counselling Association, "in recognition of contributions to the Association over an 8 year period". I have been a member of ACA since its inception and been a regular contributor to the Counselling Australia journal and the ACA Ezine. October 4th 2007: New Module: "Getting more out of Excel".

We are now offering a half day module called ‘Getting More out of Excel’, which focuses on enhancing the productivity of those at an Intermediate level who may not need to spend the time doing a full Advanced course.  Read more about here

August 5th 2007: New Website Launched!

Our new website is launched! Our aim was to redesign the site with usability in mind, to let our visitors quickly and easily find information. We welcome any feedback.

August 1st 2007: Teaching PowerPoint®

PowerPoint is one of my favourite classes to teach, however even a good thing can be overdone, as this humorous ‘How Not to Make a PowerPoint’ video shows!

July 24th 2007: Online Discussion - Leadership

I am currently hosting an online discussion forum as part of the ‘Human Leadership: Developing People’ course presented by the Faculty of Education, Monash University and the Department of Education. This forum runs until November and involves primary and secondary lead teachers and principals in the discussion of supervisory and leadership texts.

May 2007: Welcome Eastern Health!

This month we begin delivering regular IT training courses for staff of the Eastern Health network. Eastern Health encompasses Box Hill Hospital, Maroondah Hospital and the William Angliss Hospital, with most of the training to be held at Box Hill.

April 2007: Electronic HR System.

This month we begin work with City of Boroondara’s IT team on the rollout of the HRSS system. I will take care of writing the documentation, while Sue and Barbara are taking care of the training delivery. HRSS is a electronic HR system which gives staff the tools to access and change personal details, request and book annual and sick leave and check training through a web browser. The rollout and training program should be complete by August 2007.

March 2007: Monash University Singapore

March sees me take a position as a sessional academic in the Faculty of Education, Monash University. My first assignment will be to travel to Singapore as part of 4 person teaching team to to deliver a unit from the Master of Education and Master of Organisational Leadership course.

July 2006 PhD Update!

On 1st of July I received the official notification that my PhD thesis has been accepted and I will be awarded the degree Doctor of Philosophy in October of this year - I am so excited!

We are currently giving the computer skills component to job seekers on behalf of Key Employment, Training & Community Solutions in both Wantirna and their recently opened centre in Epping.

Microsoft Visio Training is now offered as a one day onsite training course.
